Spring 2008
Dear Friends and Neighbors
On behalf of the Truro Police
Association, I wish to extend our sincere thanks for your generous and
continued support over the years.
The association has had another
busy year supporting a wide range of activities and programs. We
continue to support and work closely with the D.A.R.E. program, operated
by members of the Truro Police Department. We support many school
sponsored events such as class trips, plays and theater productions.
Activities outside school such as those operated by Truro treasures, Truro
Boy/Cub Scouts and sporting events are also given priority. We
continuously work with Truro TRIAD and Truro's COA in many of the projects
they work on.
We continue to maintain our
"adopt an island" on Route 6 at the Pamet Roads cut-off and the flower
gardens in front of the public safety facility. Several police
officers donate their time throughout the year tending them. Every
year with a little luck, rain and a lot of sun the look better.
We continue to offer several
scholarships to graduating Truro students who seek to further their
education at a college or university. A continuing education
scholarship is also awarded to a college student from Truro wishing
to continue on. Our goal has been to increase the amount to our
scholarship awards because of forever increasing tuition costs.
Our senior dinner is still a
very successful event. Held in march, members of the police and fire
departments prepare and cook a four course dinner for our seniors.
We have a huge raffle where nobody leaves empty handed and arrange
transportation for those who aren't so mobile. For the past several
years the count has been at almost one hundred in attendance. That's alot
of dinners!
The Truro Police Association is
made up of Police Officers and Telecommunicators of the Truro Police
Department. It does not have an affiliation with any union or labor
relations group. It is merely a fraternal and charitable organization
within the department that allows us to do good works for Truro.
Although the association
focuses it support in Truro, we do at times participate in regional and
global causes which provide for the public good. Over the course of
the year, we get a great deal accomplished. We could never achieve
our goals or do what we do without your support.
Can we count on your
continued support?
