Dispatch Area

The Truro Police Departments dispatch center is manned 24 hours a day 365 days a year by five full time and three part-time dispatchers. The communications personnel at TPD have over 70 year of combined experience. The dispatch console is made up of the 911 phone system, radio for police, fire and EMS, computer system for logging and recording calls, monitoring devises for the station and cell blocks, town map and telephone.    Other tools used by dispatch that assist in all facets of the job, include an atlas, tactical books, manuals, forms, town census, and of course a telephone book.

All TPD Telecommunicators are certified in Enhanced 911,  Criminal Justice Information Systems, Emergency Medical Dispatch, APCO Basic Telecommunications as well as CPR/First Responder. The second dispatch station is utilized for emergencies. Two dispatchers may be required for a weather related event or perhaps even large town event.
